It's Brightstream again. I know I've been on and off on this site, but I'm trying my best ( managing a site and your own life isn't easy). I'm trying to come up with a good, secure plotline and prophecy, so hang tight! ;P

I think we all know this site has kinda been dead for a while, and I(Brightstream) haven't been doing my job as co-admin and kept this site going, but I have a plan to bring this site back from the depths! How to create a cat

Just joined Rival Clans and need to make a cat app.? If so then read this.
Please post all cat applications in the "Create a cat" board and a admin or deputy will accept them. You can rp your cats before they are accepted but if somebody asked you to fx/edit an app. please fix it.
Here are some guidelines for applications
Picture should be present, but it is not needed. Appearance should be at least 4 detailed sentences, and more if there is no picture. Personality is the most important part - many, many sentences. Detailed, too. History is not necessarily needed but it can help explain some things. A sentence or two shouls suffice

THE PLOT

A storm is brewing. The TwoLegs will come. Eacah medicine cat recieves a dream with those words in it, spoken to them by their deceased mentor. However, eight cats, two from each clan, will receive dreams from Starclan, who will give them guidance in evicting the Twolegs from the Clan's forest. They're about to embark on an adventure. Are they ready for it? Now's your chance to have a say in the plot. Check out and vote in the new plot poll.
However, a storm does brew. Not that far of either. Who can save the clans, you ask?
Eight cats have been chosen to save the clans. Two cats from each clan hold the power to save everybody in their paws!

Here's some rping guidelines:
No powerplaying! That is no playing other peoples cats withouth their permision. Also don't make somebody elses cat do something in a post you make about your cat. Here's an example of powerplaying:
"Do you like me? Heatherpaw[your cat] asked. " YES!" Cloudpaw[somebody elses cat] said.
Don't use chat-speak when rping! I know this is a "Duh" one but i've actually seen on sites where they used chatspeak for rping!For example don't do this...
"lol" Ebonypaw said "gtg"purplepaw meowed "brb?"greenpaw asked.
Use proper grammar!
Please use quotation marks and try to use correctspelling as much as possible. I mean if one ortwo words are accidently spelled wrong who cares.If here all spelled worng? Not good. Please spell check if you have to especcialy if it's a long post or an application.

GENERAL Ok. So when you post, you have plain...old...text. UBBC is the code that

the plain-old-boring text up a bit. And best of all, it's easy to learn!
BEGINNING Have you ever noticed that when you create a new topic, or reply to a thread using the REPLY button instead of the quick-reply box, that there's all of those buttons and stuff right above the box you type in? Try clicking a button next time. You'll see that, if you click the button with a little 'B' in it, the following will appear -

That makes the font that is IN BETWEEN those bold.
You get the general idea, right?
TAGS Here is a list of all the tags in UBBC - [b] [/b] - makes the text inside those tags bold. [i] [/i] - makes the text italic. [/noubb] - possibly the most useful tag. It makes whatever UBBC tags are inside it [i]not work[/i], which enables me to do stuff like this. [noubbc][glow=red,2,300] [/glow] - this one is a little tricky - it makes a
glow
around text. The reason it is tricky is because there are a few things you have to fill out - the color of the glow (red), the size of the glow, in pixels, from the text (2) and the amount of colored pixels per something-I-haven't-found-out-yet. (300). The easiest way to master [glow] is to expiriment with it. [table][/table] - these are harder, and they take up a lot of room, so please check out the TABLE POST. [color=red] [/color] - simple enough. Change the 'red' part of that to a common color. [font=tahoma] [/font] - changes the font. Change the 'tahoma' part to a common font, sans-spaces. [code] [/code] - makes a code box. You've seen them before. [shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow] - makes a
shadow
on the text. 'Red' is the color of the shadow, 'left' is the direction of the shadow, and '300' is another thing-I-don't-know-of. Expiriment with it. [img] [/img] - tells the Forum that what's between those tags is actually an image, and tells it to display it. See below. [url=www.google.ca]GOOGLE[/url] LINKS the text to what comes after the '='. [move] [/move] - makes a . I think that there are more things you can do with that, such as [move=right] [/move], but I haven't figured them all out yet. [left] [/left] - you probably won't use this often, because it's the forum default, but it makes your text align left. [center] [/center] - makes all the text inside this align

[list] [/list] - I've saved this for second-last because it takes up a bit of room. Basically, it gives you a way to make a list, like
Bullet To make the bullets of the list, use [*] to tell it. It doesn't require a closing tag.

STEPS - 1. Find the picture you want to put in. http://www.goldenstarplacements.com/images/about.jpg 2. Right-click it, and click PROPERTIES. 3. Find where it says 'Address - URL' and copy it. 4. Put the [img] [/img] code in, and paste what you copied between the two tags.

Do you want to learn how to do stuff?
Then this is for you!
To make skins: Go to the "admin" function on the top of the screen. Then click on the forum/skin colors link then click on create a skin From there you can create you skin! All you have to do is put a link to the background you've chosen, and edit the colors for the skin. You may also want to include a link to a picture for the top of the page in the appropriate spot. Te rest of the "Create a skin" page is devoted to colors. Colors for the background, links, highlights, pop-ups, etc. Each color will have a six character number and/or letter comination that you put in the blanks . also if you mess upwith the colors are something jst go back and modify the skin. NOTE FROM GOLDEH - To find a decent list of the six character codes, click HERE. I use it for most of my skins. ANOTHER NOTE FROM GOLDEH - the easiest way to make a nice skin is to make sure none of the colors conflict, there aren't too many really bright, vibrant colors all over the place. Bright, vibrant colors, however, sometimes make a very nice touch on a skin.
To Moderate boards... (Not all moderators can do this. If you find that you can, then that's great. If you find that you can't, ignore this section)
Sometimes boards get out of hand - people will get nasty with each other, a board will get off topic, etc. If you're a Moderator, it's your job to make sure nothing gets too far out of hand.
If you notice that people are being a little mean to each other, send a PM to each of them asking them (politely!) if they would be nicer to other people. Most people will understand this. Just do as you see fit - you'rre a Moderator for a reason! We don't hire people for Moderating unless we think they can do a good job.
If a board is beginning to get off-topic, then make a post asking people to stay on-topic. Offer them a way to channel their off-topicness by making a Random thread, or something like it. You could ask them to continue their conversation in a PM, or something else. If you board is already way to far off-topic, make a post explaining that the board was too off-topic, that you're closing it because of that, and that if anyone wants to re-open it all they have to do is ask. Then lock it.
If you notice that a topic is in the wrong place (e.g. a RP thread in the Advertising board) (Ok maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration) then you can easily move it by

Number One Rule with Moderating - be fair. Even if you think that Person A should win the High Rank Position, try to see why the people who think Peron B should get it think that way. Then, lay out both opinions, and maybe get a poll set up so people can see all of the facts, info, etc. and vote on who they think should win the Position. The above sample is just one thing that that Rule can be applied to. Being fair helps in nearly all situations, and the situations it doesn't work for usually aren't found on a Warriors RP Forum.

No one knows exactly what to do until eight cats = two from each Clan - get a dream. This dream directs them to a Twoleg city, unknown miles away. Together, they must journey to this city, for the good of their kin - for the good of their Clan - and for the good of the whole forest. Beware the storm.

RC FACTS

Here are some interesting thigns about RC that I don't think anyone else knows -
1. I first made RC as a test! Just that! I just wanted to see what it was like to make a skin...or appoint a moderator...etc.
2. The first skin ever on RC was 'Goldenstar'
3. We've gone through THREE Cboxes - the first one died or some unknown reason, and the second I forgot my password for, but I had (oh-so cleverly) signed up with a fake email address so I couldn't retrieve my password, and the third one is the one we see today.
4. The CBOX has had three major changes to its look - first, there was a yellow and orange CBOX, to go with the Goldenstar skin (it was more square than this one), then, there was a red-and-white CBOX to go with our new default, Everybody Loves Red, and then I added grey to that CBOX to suit our general theme.
5. Shadow was the first real live member (I had made Test as...well...a test.)
6. Since RC, I have made two other Proboards (and I don't have any time for them), and I have had ideas for two more forums, which I again cannot make.
7. The idea of making RC a real site, instead of just a test, occured to me when Shadow signed up.
8. Our first advert was something along the lines of "Hey! Sign up at Rival Clans! We're DESPERATE FOR MEMEBERS and NONE OF OUR POSITIONS ARE FILLED!!!!" and then a link to RC at the bottom.
9. I think I just got lucky with the name 'Rival Clans'. I've never seen a Warriors RP site with a prettier name.
Infected wounds Horsetail, burdock root, marigold, chervil leaf juice (all apply) plus rolling in wild garlic aids the healing but shouldn't be the only treatment
Bellyache water mint, chervil root (all are ingested)
Bee Sting White liquid inside dandelion stem (apply)
Cough Tansy, coltsfoot (ingest both)
Aching & Restores Eyes Celandine
Swelling Stinging nettle
Toothache Alder bark
Strength Ragwort, lamb's ears (In mountains // ingest) wheat
Poisons in Clan Territory Foxglove, yew berries
Dislocation of Fore/Hindleg First, the cat is given a poppy seed to ease the pain and, hopefully reaction skills. Then, one cat must restrain the patient, so the medicine cat's face is not clawed off. The medicine cat then grips the patient's leg in the jaws and gives quick pull. A sharp click should be heard and the injured cat should respond to this with a yowl and a struggle. Then the poppy seed should really be taking effect, causing the patient to not be able to think straight and stagger. He or she should be sent to rest immediately after. The process of relocating the leg should be done in no less than a minute.
Detecting Fever Medicine cat must press their nose to the pad of the patient's paw. Then, if still unsure, the medicine cat can compare to another, healthy cat.
Detecting Hearing Disorders Simply have a cat stand far away from the cat and call it by its name without giving any sort of visual. If the cat in question does not respond, have the calling cat near a few pawsteps closer then call again, in order to know the severity
Note- Water mint is only available in marshy/wet areas. Catnip is only found in two-leg gardens.
Borage Leaves to be chewed and eaten. The plant can be distinguished by it's small blue or pink star-shaped flowers and hairy leaves. Great for nursing cats as it helps increase their supply of milk. Also brings down fever.
Burdock Root a tall-stemmed, sharp smelling thistle with dark leaves. A shaman healer must dig up the roots, wash off the dirt, and chew them into a pulp, which can be applied to rat bites. Cures infection.
Catmint (also known as catnip) a delicious smelling, leafy plant that's hard to find in the wild; often found growing in Twoleg gardens. The best remedy for flu or pneumonia.
Chervil a sweet smelling plant with large, spreading, fernlike leaves and small white flowers. The juice of the leaves can be used for infected wounds, and chewing the roots will help with bellyache.
Cobweb/ spiderwebs can be found all over the city; be careful not to bring the spider along when you take the web! Shaman healers wrap it around an injury to soak up the blood and keep the wound clean. Stops bleeding.
Coltsfoot a flowering plant, a bit like dandelion, with yellow or white flowers. The leaves can be chewed into a pulp, which is eaten to help with shortness of breath.
Comfrey identifiable by it's large leaves and small bell-shaped flowers, which can be pink, white, or purple. The fat black roots of this plant can be chewed into a poultice to mend broken bones or soothe wounds.
Dock a plant similar to sorrel. The leaf can be chewed up and applied to soothe scratches.
Dried Oak Leaves collected in the autumn and stored in a dry place. Stops infections.
Feverfew a small bush with flowers like daisies. The leaves can be eaten to cool down body temperature, particularly for cats with fever or chills.
Goldenrod a tall plant with bright yellow flowers. A poultice of this is terrific for healing wounds.
Honey a sweet golden liquid created by bees. Difficult to collect without getting stung, but great for soothing infections of sore throats.
Horsetail a tall plant with bristly stems that grows in marshy areas. The leaves can be used to treat infected wounds. Usually chewed up and applied as poultice.
Juniper Berries a bush with spiky dark green leaves and purple berries. The berries soothe bellyaches and help cats who have trouble breathing.
Lavender a small purple flowering plant. Cures fever.
Mouse bile a bad smelling liquid that is the only remedy for ticks. Dab a little moss soaked in bile on the tick and it'll fall right off. Wash paws thoroughly in running water afterward.
Poppy Seeds small black seeds shaken from a dried poppy flower, these are fed to cats to help them sleep. Soothes cats suffering from shock and distress. Not recommended for nursing she-cats.
Stinging Nettle the spiny green seeds can be administered to a cat whose swallowed poison, while the leaves can be applied to a wound to bring down swelling.
Tansy a strong smelling plant with round yellow flowers. Good for curing coughs but must be eaten in small doses.
Thyme this herb can be eaten to calm anxiety and frayed nerves.
Watermint a leafy green plant found in streams or damp earth. Usually chewed into a pulp and then fed to a cat suffering bellyache.
Wild Garlic rolling in a patch of wild garlic can help prevent infection, especially for dangerous wounds like rat bites.
Yarrow a flowering plant whose leaves can be made into a poultice and applied to wounds or scratches to expel poison.
Yew Berries red berries that can be fatally poisonous to cats and elders. They are NOT a medicine. Beware.

THE WARRIOR CODE

FROM SECERETS OF THE CLANS
1. Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as you may one day meet them in battle. 2. Do not hunt or trespass on another Clans territory. 3. Elders and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. 4. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to Starclan for its life. 5. A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice. 6. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after recieving their warrior name. 7. A cat cannot be made deputy without mentoring at least one apprentice. 8. The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies or retires. 9. After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh. 10. A gathering of all four clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time. 11. Boundries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats. 12. No warrior may neglect a kit in pain or in danger, even if that kit is from a different Clan. 13. The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code. 14. An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense. 15. A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.
CATS CAN BREAK THE CODE IN EXTREME SITUATIONS BUT EXPECT PUNISHMENT!!!

2: If you're going to advertise your site or email address, put the link in your name and call attention to it ONCE, and only ONCE.
3: NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER say anything mean, vulgar, evil, or obscene. It offends people and makes the site a worse place to be. (OK, maybe evil is OK, but the rest isn't.)
4: Literacy is a must, but smilies, lol, and g2g, as well as anything between * * as long as it follows the other rules are OK. *glomps*
5: You're allowed to post as many times as you like, but don't post more than a few times in a row about some random subject. That IS flooding and I don't like that.
6: We're a bunch of lunatics who can and will randomly glomp people.
7: Please keep all hands and feet inside the CBOX at all times, this could be a bumpy ride!! :-)
